New Delhi: The fifth edition of Project Veer Gatha, a joint initiative by the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Education, has recorded an unprecedented participation of 1.92 crore students from approximately 1.90 lakh schools across India, marking the highest turnout since the project’s inception in 2021.
The initiative, aimed at celebrating India’s military heritage and valor, also saw 28,005 students from 91 CBSE-affiliated schools across 18 countries participate for the first time, reflecting its expanding international reach.
Launched on September 8, 2025, Veer Gatha 5.0 introduced innovative short-video formats, including videography, anchoring, reporting, and storytelling. Students explored India’s rich military traditions, heroic legacies, and strategies of historic warriors such as King Kharavela of Kalinga, Prithviraj Chauhan, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and leaders of the 1857 and Tribal uprisings.

Following school-level activities, state and district evaluations, and online submissions via the MyGov portal, 100 Super-Winners were selected at the national level: 25 from the Preparatory Stage (Grades 3–5), 25 from the Middle Stage (Grades 6–8), and 50 from the Secondary Stage (Grades 9–12). These winners will receive a cash prize of ₹10,000 each and witness the Republic Day Parade 2026 at Kartavya Path as special guests.

In addition, State/UT and district-level winners will be recognized by local authorities. The project continues to nurture patriotism, civic responsibility, and an understanding of India’s gallantry legacy among students, growing steadily into a national and international movement since its launch as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
